By now, it’s fair to say that nobody knows what is happening with Brexit. We have reached and surpassed the date the UK were due to leave the EU, and now we have no idea when, how or indeed if this is still going to happen. There’s still great uncertainty on how this may affect the UK housing market in general.

According to new research from the Legal & General Mortgage Club, more than two thirds of UK homeowners state that Brexit has had an effect on their plans to either buy or sell property in the coming six months. According to a survey of 2000 home owners across the country, 12% stated they had delayed their decision to buy in the next 6 months because of Brexit, and 1 in 10 who were planning to sell had put their plans on hold – 5% however said that they were trying to sell their property more quickly and be settled in a new property before Brexit came around.

On the plus side however, a huge 67% of respondents state that Brexit and the ongoing uncertainty had no impact whatsoever on their decisions to buy or sell property in the coming months.

While this may spell good news for those looking to sell their homes and worrying about the demand in the coming months, it does mean that the UK housing crisis is still very much in evidence and therefore the need for new homes and suitable land remains.

At Intro Crowd, we give qualified investors the opportunity to collectively fund the purchase of strategic land sites across the country. These sites are greenfield in nature and therefore have no prior history of development. They’re typically located close to existing settlements and therefore often have good road access as well as access to local amenities such as shops, schools and medical care. This makes these sites sustainable by nature, which in turn can be attractive to house builders.

Once the sites reach the fully funded status on our platform, our experienced Planning Team will take the site through the planning process and if consent for planning is granted by the local authority, we will aim to sell the site on to a house builder for residential development thus providing local authorities with more suitable land for housing.
