COULD FURTHER PRICE DROPS BE ON THE HORIZON FOR THE UK HOUSING MARKET?

Seasonal price drops are nothing new, but as 2019 draws to a close we could be facing drops of up to 1.3% nationally and 8.4% regionally off the back of low buyer confidence and political uncertainty surrounding Brexit.

Research undertaken by reallymoving suggests that we could expect to see this 1.3% dip occurring over the next three months, with prices in Northern Ireland expected to drop by 8.5%, Wales by 8.4% and the North West by 5.1% which may well cancel out price increases achieved over recent months.

While this doesn’t spell good news for those looking to sell their home, it could be good news for first-time buyers who may find themselves in a position to purchase a home that is better suited to their needs and at a more favourable price.

That said, house prices are still on course to end the year 4% higher than at the end of 2018 according to Rob Houghton, chief executive of reallymoving.
